Air Lanka has signed a prorate agreement with Air India that preludes a wider code-share accord.
The agreement - the first of its kind between the two flag carriers - will allow Air Lanka passengers to reach London, Frankfurt, Singapore, New Delhi, Mumbai (Bombay), Trivandrum and Madras at reduced cost when connecting with Air India flights.
Air India has not operated services to Sri Lanka for years, although it has the traffic right. Air Lanka hopes Air India will re-launch Colombo services soon, allowing for discussions to be held on a wider code-share agreement.
