Air Macau expects to finalise a new five-year business plan in May which will include acquiring its first freighters, more passenger aircraft and new routes.
Cargo offers good prospects for increasing revenues, believes Air Macau. "A few" aircraft are likely to be added, says an airline source. Boeing 767Fs have been under consideration, airline officials have said in the past. "We need to expand revenue by moving into cargo," the source adds.
The airline hopes to inaugurate new services on 1 July. Although it will not say where in Asia it will fly it is likely to build on the booming cargo business it runs between mainland China and Taiwan on passenger aircraft via its Macau base.
After broadening its Asian horizons Air Macau is expected to expand to points in Europe and possibly the USA.
