Embraer has received airworthiness certification for the E190-E2 from Brazilian, European and US regulators, ahead of first delivery to launch operator Wideroe.
The certification comes about 56 months after the programme was launched in mid-2013 at the Paris air show.
Four E190-E2 prototype aircraft completed over 2,000h in flight testing, and 45,000h of ground tests. The aircraft was certified by Brazil's civil aviation authority ANAC, the European Aviation Safety Agency and the US Federal Aviation Administration.
"Today’s certification of the E190-E2 marks a pivotal milestone in the programme. It’s reasonable to now anticipate an acceleration of commercial discussions with operators around the globe," says John Slattery, president and chief executive of Embraer Commercial Aviation.
Embraer has secured 74 firm orders for the E190-E2, Flight Fleets Analyzer shows.
Wideroe will place the E190-E2 into revenue service on 24 April. The Norwegian regional carrier has a firm order for three E190-E2s and purchase rights for an additional 12.
Embraer plans to deliver the first E195-E2 in the first half of 2019, followed by the E175-E2 in 2021.
