Continental Airlines is to start daily nonstop flights from New York/Newark to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janerio on 10 July. Continental Express was to launch three daily services from Cleveland/Hopkins to Raleigh-Durham on 1 May as well as three daily flights to Norfolk, Virginia via Washington/Dulles and a daily service to Atlantic City on 12 June.

Delta Air Lines will begin daily services from Cincinnati and Atlanta to Sïo Paulo and on to Rio de Janeiro in mid-June.

Canadian Airlines and British Airways expanded their codesharing agreement to include all 23 weekly London/ Heathrow-Toronto services from 14 May and were set to extend it to the 13 weekly Heathrow-Vancouver frequencies from 1 June.

British Airways has put its inflight catering operations at London/Heathrow up for sale.

Ansett Australia was set to launch twice weekly services from Sydney to Shanghai on 8 June using a B767-300ER. It will also codeshare on China Eastern's twice weekly flights.

Southwest Airlines was planning to start three daily flights from Kansas City to Los Angeles and daily services to Oakland and to Baltimore- Washington on 11 June.

CityJet was to start two return flights each weekday from Dublin to Paris/Charles de Gaulle and codeshare on Air France's weekend Dublin-Paris services on 1 May.

Jet Airways is to launch daily flights from Delhi to Lucknow, Varanasi (Benares) and Chennai (Madras) from July.

Portugália was to start five weekly services from Lisbon to Manchester via Porto from 19 May using an F100. The carrier has also launched new daily services from Lisbon and Porto to Las Palmas, Palma, Tenerife and Valencia.

Régional Airlines started twice daily services from Clermont-Ferrand to Poitiers, Rouen and Strasbourg in April.

Italian airline Air Dolomiti has launched codeshare services with Lufthansa on Genoa-Paris (twice-daily) and Verona-Paris (daily), using an ATR42-500.

Maersk Air and Swissair started codesharing between Billund and Zürich on 12 weekly services, connecting over Frankfurt.

Braathens Safe and Transwede joined Finnair's frequent flyer programme in May.

Canadian Air Cargo introduced a daily service from Toronto to Buenos Aires via Sïo Paulo in April, as well as codeshare services with American Airlines from Dallas-Fort Worth to Toronto and Vancouver.

AB Airlines was to start a London/Gatwick-Lisbon service on 1 May.

The Orient Airlines Association was renamed the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines on 15 April.
