Shuttle by United is adding Portland-San Francisco and Portland-Los Angeles from the beginning of April.

Under the new US-Canada bilateral Northwest Airlines will begin services from Minneapolis to Calgary and Regina on 1 May and Saskatoon on 15 May following US government approval. From Detroit the carrier will serve Ottawa from the beginning of May and Halifax from the middle of the month.

Pending government approval, Air Canada will launch services from Ottawa-Chicago and Halifax-Chicago in addition to seven extra daily frequencies on Toronto-La Guardia.

America West Airlines has received temporary US authority to serve Vancouver-Phoenix twice daily.

Austrian Airlines was set to begin twice weekly services from Vienna to Beijing, China and Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Silkair will operate three times weekly to the Sumatran destinations of Padang and Pekanbaru from the end of March.

Emirates is to launch a twice weekly service to Johannesburg from Dubai via the Comoros islands.

British Airways is to resume services to Damascus from the end of April subject to approval. The carrier also launched a twice weekly service to Baku in mid-March.

South Africa cargo charter operator Avia Airlines is to begin a scheduled three times weekly service from London/ Gatwick to Johannesburg.

Gambia's Atlantic Airlines has begun a twice weekly service from London/Gatwick to Banjul. The operation uses a wet leased agreement Boeing 757 from Monarch Airlines.

EBA Express is to begin services from Brussels to Madrid in May.

Deutsche BA was set to begin services twice daily from Munich to London/Gatwick, four times a week from Berlin to Riga and twice a week from Berlin to Vilnius from the end of March.

German independent Eurowings will from May begin operations to Bornholm from Dortmund and Munster; Sardinia from Berlin, Nuremburg and Dusseldorf; and Corsica from Nuremburg and Hanover. The carrier has also recently added Dresden-Kraków services.

Swiss independent Air Engiadina was due to begin operations from London/City to Berne at the end of March.

Lufthansa has resumed scheduled services to Lima and Quito. Lima services are three times weekly from Frankfurt via Caracas, while Quito services will stop in Bogota.

SAS will begin services from Stockholm to Kansai/Osaka from the end of April.

Jersey European Airways will provide services between Derry, Belfast and Dublin from the middle of May.
