Cologne-based regional carrier German Airways is seeking a codeshare agreement with US operator and SkyTeam alliance member Delta Air Lines.

German Airways is a small airline with a fleet of nine Embraer 190s.

But it is applying to US authorities for the codeshare arrangement covering services which it will operate on behalf of Dutch airline KLM, one of Delta’s SkyTeam partners.

“German Airways plans to commence codeshare service with Delta shortly after receipt of all government approvals,” the carrier states in a filing with the US Department of Transportation.

The airline, which specialises in wet-lease and charter services, is part of the Zeitfracht Group.

German Airways will operate the codeshare flights initially on routes between Amsterdam and Basel, Dusseldorf, Gothenburg, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Stavanger.
