Tajik carrier Somon Air has signed for a pair of Boeing 737 Max 8s, which the airline intends to lease from Dubai-based DAE Capital.
Somon Air, based in Dushanbe, uses a fleet of Boeing 737-800s and -900s.
It states that the Max 8s will be introduced to the carrier in 2026.
“Signing of this agreement is part of our long-term strategy to modernise the fleet and improve the quality of service,” says general director Abdulkosim Valiev.
Valiev says the jets will allow the operator to expand its network, increase frequencies, and benefit from greater efficiency.
Its network includes routes from Tajikistan to destinations in Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, India, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
