The Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture 2001, which took place in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on 24-31 July, attracted around 750,000 visitors and displayed almost 2,500 aircraft. No new models were unveiled, but plenty of upgrades were launched to improve existing types. Enthusiasm was dampened, however, by news that the US sports aircraft category rulemaking is still going through the approval process.
