Alcatel Space has beaten Astrium, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Loral to one of the few communications satellite contracts expected this year. South Korean telecommunications company KT has awarded the French organisation a $148.5 million contract to build Koreasat 5. Lockheed Martin built the first three Koreasats.
