Italian aerostructures manufacturer Alenia Aeronautica is to perform static and fatigue testing of the Boeing 787’s horizontal stabiliser at its laboratories near Naples. Alenia has also been awarded an initial $1.1 billion contract to supply fuselage and tail section components for 150 787s. The Finmeccanica-owned company has established Charleston, North Carolina-based Global Aeronautica as a joint venture with Vought Aircraft Industries to perform pre-assembly of 787 fuselage sections.
