Andean satellite
The Andesat consortium, comprising Venezuela, Columbia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Alcatel Spacecom, will launch the first of a series of Alcatel Espace-built Simon Bolivar communications satellites in 2001. The project will cost $500 million.
