It seems you just can't be too careful nowadays. Gulfstream (Chalet K19-20) has become the first long-range, large-cabin business aircraft manufacturer to offer infrared missile protection.

The company now offers the Sanders AN/ALQ-204 Matador Infrared Countermeasure (IRCM) system on its business aircraft for government and corporate customers. The firm says it has already sold five of the units and close interest has been shown in a further five. The units cost $3.5m each.

The FAA-certified installation has been accomplished on five customer aircraft and several additional aircraft are being modified at Gulfstream's service centre in Savannah, Georgia.
