On 25 July Russia launched Cosmos 2392, believed to be an Arkon military reconnaissance satellite, on a Proton K from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The last Arkon was Cosmos 2344, which was placed into a 1,500 x 2,740km (930 x 1,700 mile), 63.4í orbit in June 1997. Cosmos 2392 is also being used for "civilian ecological observation", according to Russia.
