Boeing has awarded contracts related to the P-8A Poseidon maritime reconnaissance aircraft to two Australian companies.
The contracts amount to nearly $1.85 million, Boeing said in a statement.
Under the agreements, Melbourne's Lovitt Technologies Australia will produce mission systems parts and assembly fabrications for the aircraft.
Brisbane's Ferra Engineering will supply internal and external airframe parts and assemblies for various flight and mission systems.
Both companies already support other Boeing programmes. Lovitt is involved in the V-22 Osprey and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, while Ferra does work for Boeing commercial aircraft and the F/A-18E/F.
Although Canberra has yet to make a firm commitment, it has named the P-8A as the aircraft of choice to replace its fleet of Lockheed Martin AP-3C Orion aircraft.
