AvCraft Aerospace is cutting 155 of the 345 jobs at its Oberpfaffenhofen plant in Germany with immediate effect as part of plans to restructure and streamline operations, says the company's administrator Martin Prager. Talks are continuing with potential buyers for the manufacturer of the Dornier 328Jet and Prager says he is still hopeful of finding a buyer by June, the goal he imposed last month. US-based AvCraft bought the Dornier 328Jet production line from Fairchild Dornier in February 2003, but the full production restart of the 328Jet in May 2004 was beset with enormous financial expenses. The company, which is finishing two firm aircraft orders, filed for insolvency in March and has a "realistic chance" of surviving, he adds.
