A battery-powered DynAero Lafayette III manned aircraft will fly for a few miles at 2,000ft (610m) from Worcester airport, Massachusetts in late July. The aircraft is an alternative fuel project involving Worcester Polytechnic Institute students and fuel cell firm Advanced Technology Products. The aircraft will use rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries. The battery- powered flight is the first of three stages leading to a fully fuel cell-powered trip.
