Beriev is looking at developing a cheaper version of its new Be-103 six-seat amphibian for Russian operators using a single 268kW (360hp)Voronezh OKBM M-14 engine mounted on a vertical pylon above the fuselage. The Russian manufacturer successfully flew the first Be-103 on 15 July powered by two 155kW Teledyne Continental IO-360 engines (Flight International, 23-29 July). A second prototype is nearing completion.
