Boeing bail out

Boeing has failed to find new customers for the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 and will stop manufacturing it in 2000, meaning the loss of nearly 4,000 jobs. The new 100-seater MD-95, now renamed the Boeing 717, will be the only McDonnell Douglas commercial aircraft in production after 2000.
