Boeing gained stock market altitude as news that its long-delayed 787 flagship project may finally take off lifted shares beyond $56 to a 52-week high. Surprisingly to anyone who has followed the Dreamliner nightmare, or perhaps not given the dire state of US manufacturing, Boeing has outperformed the Dow Jones Industrials this year, gaining 41% versus less than 20% for the index; over five years, Boeing is up 3.8% and the Dow is down 1.22%.
