CESSNA AIRCRAFT'S authorised sales representative in Brazil, TAM/Transportes Aereos Regonais, has placed an order for 100 single-engine pistons, with deliveries starting in 1997.
Cessna says that TAM holds more than 100 additional orders based on the company's option-to-buy agreements. TAM is a big user of Cessna Caravans, operating more than 30 in its Brazil Central Airline fleet.
Cessna plans to restart manufacturing piston singles at a new factory in Independence, Kansas, in July 1996. The company will build Models 172, 182, 206 and the Turbo 206, with deliveries of 172s beginning in 1997. Up to 2,000 aircraft a year are planned for production by 1998.
Cessna has now delivered more than 700 Caravans since its introduction in 1985. Deliveries in 1995 have reached 56 to date, bringing the global fleet to 714 in 52 countries.
