Brunei Shell Petroleum's helicopter safety record brought the company the Business and General Aviation award.
Last year the company's aviation department reached the milestones of 150,000hr and 740,000 take-offs and landings over 33 years without a fatal accident or injury to passengers, crew or the public. Such a record is no mean feat in the offshore industry. One judge comments: "It is proof of a superbly trained and dedicated staff and outstanding management at the helm."
Adam Aircraft and Cessna Aircraft were the two finalists. The judges recognised Adam Aircraft for the rollout of the M-309, a six-seat, all-composite, piston twin that progressed from concept to reality in just seven months, culminating in a first flight in March 2000. Cessna Aircraft achieved the certification and delivery of three business jets, the CJ1, CJ2 and Encore.
