LEGACY MILESTONE

Embraer's new large Legacy 650 executive jet demonstrator completed a nonstop 6,480km (3,500nm) flight from Dubai to London Farnborough airport on 8 November carrying 10 passengers and crew. The demonstration flight was designed to promote the capabilities of the large cabin business jet within the lucrative Middle East region - one of the largest markets for the Legacy, which was launched a year ago as a longer-range, derivative of the Legacy 600 with larger fuel capacity, Rolls-Royce AE 3007A2 engines and Honeywell's Primus Elite cockpit. Embraer clinched Brazilian and European certification for the $29.5 million 650 in October and is gearing up to deliver the first aircraft later this month.

NOISE COMPLIANT

Gulfstream has been awarded US Stage 4 and European Chapter 4 approval for its large-cabin aircraft. The validations pave the way for the G550, G500, G450, G350, GV, GIV-SP and GIV business jets to avoid restrictions based on stringent operational noise levels being considered at several airports around the world. Gulfstream says operators of these aircraft types may also be subject to lower usage charges relating to the noise levels generated. In-production large-cabin Gulfstream types will enter service with certificated compliance to Stage 4 while in-service aircraft can become compliant through an aircraft service change, says Gulfstream.

CITATION SOLUTION

Aftermarket aircraft systems developer Jettech has developed a new Garmin G600 glass panel electronic flight instrumentation system for the Cessna Citation 501/551 series business jet. The Denver, Colorado-based company says the unit "will provide pilots with the highest degree of situational awareness in legacy Citations by adding features such as synthetic vision, terrain awareness, traffic collision avoidance systems, digital weather radar, satellite weather radar and lightning strike information".
