As part of its increased focus on customer value across its product line, Embraer announced at the show this morning new enhancements to its Legacy 500 and Legacy 450 business jets.
The new optional features include FANS 1/A+ technology in the cockpit which allows datalink communications between pilots and air traffic control in support of the Federal Aviation Administration’s NextGen ATC modernisation programme. It will be available from the fourth quarter of 2017.
The pair will also have as an option Gogo’s latest air-to-ground connectivity system, AVANCE L5, from the first quarter of 2018. This feature allows customers to benefit from higher internet speeds through access to 4G networks. It also delivers data rates of up to 9.8 Mbps for downlink, covering the continental USA and portions of Alaska and Canada.

The passenger seats in the Legacy 450 and 500 have also been restyled with the lumbar adjustments, headrest wings, redesigned leg rests and heating and massage features offering improved ergonomics and comfort.
The seats – which will be available on new aircraft in the second quarter of 2018 – will be offered with a choice of four optional designs, and will come with a range of stitching, colours and leather material textures, says Embraer.
The Legacy 500 and 450 entered service in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and by the end of June, the airframer says it had delivered 48 500s and 20 450s.
Embraer Executive Jets president and chief executive Michael Amalfitano says the pair have “revolutionised” the midsize business jet sector by delivering “incomparable value” to customers. “These enhancements are a direct reflection of our innovative DNA as we continue to move toward our vision of being the most desired brand in business aviation,” he says.
