The Austrian air force has auctioned off its last six Cessna L-19E (OE-1E Bird Dog) forward air-control aircraft to private buyers in Vienna. The aircraft, which have been in service for nearly 40 years, were phased out of operational use at the end of September. There are no plans to replace the aircraft because their role has been made redundant, says the air force. Austria received the aircraft in 1958 and 1959.
