Air Commodore Gavin Mackay has taken over from Commodore Simon Bostock as commandant of the Central Flying School at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell. In 1982, as executive officer of No 1 (F) Squadron, McKay led the second wave of RAF British Aerospace Harriers to the Falkland Islands, shortly before the Argentinean surrender. He has also led the RAF Germany Harrier Force on Red Flag exercises and on field deployments.
