Century Aerospace has refined the design of its planned Century Jet single-turbofan business jet. Changes include a larger wing, which has fuel capacity increased by 135kg; a 130mm fuselage stretch, to enlarge baggage volume by 30%; a circular-section fuselage, expanding cabin width by 150mm; and a lengthened nose, to house additional avionics. Gross weight has been increased by 225kg, to 2,700kg, to accommodate the extra fuel, which extends range by more than 550km (300nm). Certification is planned for late 1999, with the Williams-Rolls FJ44-1 turbofan. The uprated FJ44-2 will be offered later, and will give increased speed in return for a modest reduction in range.
