China Eastern Airlines took delivery of its first of eight A340-300s on 15 May. The Shanghai-based carrier is the first airline in the People's Republic of China to receive the long-haul aircraft. A340 services will be inaugurated in June, between Shanghai and Los Angeles. China Eastern's A340s are configured with 289 seats in a three-class arrangement.
