China Southern Airlines has posted a 14% increase in passenger traffic in November, helped by strong growth in the regional market.

Total RPKs grew 14.1% from a year ago, says the Guangzhou-based carrier. Domestic RPKs increased 13.2%, regional RPKs rose 48.9% and international RPKs grew 16.7%.

In real terms, the total number of passengers carried increased 13.9% to 5.6 million, adds the airline.

Domestic passenger numbers grew 13.4% to 5.2 million, regional passenger numbers rose 36.3% to 126,460 and international passenger numbers increased 15.3% to 343,270.

Total capacity, as measured by ASKs, grew 10.2% from a year ago. Domestic ASKs were up 10.5%, regional ASKs 29.1% and international ASKs 6.9%.

The passenger load factor increased 2.6 percentage points to 77.5%. The domestic passenger load factor rose 1.9 percentage points to 78.7%, the regional load factor was up 9.8 percentage points to 73.7% and the international passenger load factor grew 5.9 percentage points to 70.8%.

In terms of cargo, total RFTKs jumped 43.3%. Domestic cargo traffic grew 33.3%, regional 41.4% and international 61.7%.
