Further details of Embraer's co-operation with China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II) are likely to be disclosed this week. A deal covering production of ERJ-145s in Harbin is to be announced in Beijing on 2 December. Embraer has been in talks with AVIC II on the production of 50-seat aircraft in China for some time and in September Chinese government approval was secured. The approval covered the establishment of a joint venture company in Harbin to produce ERJ-145s. To date its only customer in China is Sichuan Airlines, which operates five ERJ-145s, but the Brazilian manufacturer hopes the deal will lead to further sales there.
