Technology developed to keep cars safe on the road is to take to the air following an agreement between two exhibitors, Crane Aerospace (Hall 4, F10) and Goodyear (Hall 1, C10). Using technology licensed from the US tyre manufacturer, Crane is to develop a pressure indicator for use in aircraft wheels.

The SmartStem indicator will be designed to deliver instant, high-accuracy readings from a sensor in the valve stem or mounted on the wheel to a reader held by a ground engineer. It is energised by a low-power signal from the reader.
