EGRETT II

Grob's foray into the high-altitude reconnaissance/research platform development arena appears to have ended with the German Aerospace Research Establishment cancelling its contract for the Strato 2C in mid-1996. The German air force had previously cancelled the LAPAS reconnaissance programme, based on the Egrett II high-altitude, long-endurance, electronic-intelligence aircraft, following allegations of impropriety. The D-500 Egrett I "pre-prototype" for the Egrett II is no longer being flown.

The Egrett II was first flown in April 1989 and was certificated in 1991.
