Olympus teams with P&W for live internet endoscope demo

Pratt & Whitney is running a daily live video inspection of a gas turbine engine using the latest endoscope technology. Visitors to the P&W stand (Hall A/909) can see the 2pm ‘show' which is also being broadcast live on the internet.

The technology behind the presentation is the Olympus IPLEX. Its manufacturer Olympus Industrial (Hall C/103), a frequent visitor to Asian Aerospace is showing the IPLEX for the first time, although it has already generated sales in the region. One unit is in operation with the Republic of Singapore Air Force.

The IPLEX allows technicians to look inside gas turbines, on or off the wing, without taking the instrument apart, saving time and money.

Head of Export Sales Graham Lewis is pleased to have the opportunity of partnering P&W on the project.

"I wouldn't expect to agree any deals here - it's just very important to get our distributors familiar with the latest range of products," he says.

Also on show are Olympus rigid boroscopes, flexible fibrescopes and state-of-the- art CCTV.
