An environmental review streamlining initiative now has the power of the presidency behind it, senior FAA advisor for environmental policy Lynn Pickard says. An executive order by President Bush in October named the Philadelphia airport for such expedited review. This comes in addition to EASE, or Expedited Airport System Enhancement, started in May 2000. Pickard says FAA has increased both its environmental staffing and use of consultants for impact reviews since EASE was begun.
