Three European astronauts have been selected to fly on the 1996 Space Shuttle STS 75 which will attempt to deploy the Italian Tethered Satellite. The first attempt during the STS 46 mission in August 1992 was thwarted by technical faults. The astronauts are Claude Nicollier of Switzerland and Italians Maurizio Cheli and Umberto Guidoni.
