The MEADS International joint venture is to submit an updated industrial proposal to the German, Italian and US governments this month in a bid to resolve any remaining issues ahead of contract signing for the system development and demonstration phase of the Medium Extended Air Defence System (MEADS) programme. "We are close to resolving the [three-nation] memorandum of understanding and the technology-transfer issue," says MEADS International president Jim Cravens. A contract signature is expected from late this year.
