Northwest Airlines completed on 24 March the purchase of Northwest Airlink feeder Express Airlines I, which it will operate as a separate subsidiary. The deal includes the airline and affiliate management company Phoenix Airlines Services. Although it had been rumoured that Express Airlines I might become part of Mesaba, "no changes in operations are anticipated".
