GE Aircraft Engines has selected Lockheed Martin Control Systems and its partner Snecma Control Systems to develop a new generation of full-authority digital engine controls (FADEC) for commercial jet engines. The pair will design and manufacture the FADEC 3 product line, which will debut on the GE90-115 powerplant due to enter service in 2003 on the Boeing 777X models. The system will replace first and second generation FADECs flying on GE engines.
