FIDAE organisers expect this year's show, to be held on 23-28 March at Santiago's main commercial airport, to draw about 38,000 trade visitors, down slightly from the 40,656 visitors in 2008.
Around 400 companies from 40 countries have signed up to exhibit, compared with 423 companies from 46 countries in 2008. About 100 aircraft are expected to be on static display, compared with 120 aircraft in 2008.
Chile's government decided on 2 March to go forward with FIDAE 2010 despite the devastating 27 February earthquake, which damaged the airport's international passenger terminal but not any of the runways or air show facilities.
International Air Transport Association regional vice-president for Latin America and the Caribbean Patricio Sepulveda called the decision "a strong sign that Chile, its government and its aeronautical authorities, are working together for the country to be able to rapidly recover from the damages occurred throughout the region".
IATA for the sixth time is organising at FIDAE its "Wings of Change" air transport conference, which will be held at the show's grounds on 24 and 25 March.
Aerospace medical science and military logistics conferences will also be held this year at FIDAE.
