Russia is promoting a full range of aerospace products at the show, as it looks to build on a strong sales performance in the defence sector last year.
Moscow's military offerings range from the RAC MiG-29M/M2 and Sukhoi Su-30/35 fighters and Irkut's Yak-130 jet trainer through transports, rotorcraft and unmanned air vehicles, with Rosoboronexport, Russian Helicopters, United Aircraft and United Engine all present at the show.
"We expect a lot of attention from delegations from all over the world: hardly anyone else can showcase so many products that have been tested in real combat conditions," says Rosoboronexport director general Alexander Mikheev.
New-generation products being promoted at Le Bourget include the Su-32 strike platform, Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A(E) transport and Il-78MK-90A tanker, plus the in-development Il-112VE light transport.
"In 2018, we exported combat aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, engines and [air force] equipment worth over $6 billion," says Rosoboronexport.
Mikheev notes that Moscow is unable to exhibit its military products at this year's show, or participate in its daily flying display, because of what he describes as “unfair competition with regard to Russian weapons”.
"We will invite all connoisseurs of the highest quality equipment and masterful performance of aerobatic programmes to the MAKS air show in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, in August," Mikheev says.
