Lufthansa Group is discussing options for placing its vintage Junkers Ju 52 on display in a museum.
The company transferred the 83-year old aircraft earlier this month from Munich to Hamburg, where it is being stored in a hangar.
It has logged some 11,500h since being engaged in pleasure flight services since 1986 but Lufthansa has taken the decision to stop such flights in order to reduce expenditure.
The company says the Ju 52 will be preserved in an “appropriate” setting and “made available to the public”.
Lufthansa has yet to decide, however, where the aircraft will be placed. It says it is holding talks with a number of “renowned institutions”.
While the aircraft, produced in 1936, carries the prominent registration D-AQUI for historical purposes, it is formally registered as D-CDLH.
