FLIGHTSAFETY International (FSI) is to install its first Canadair Regional Jet flight simulator at its Cincinnati, Ohio, training centre. Cincinnati is the home base of regional carrier Comair, the largest operator of 50-seat Regional Jets, with 29 in service, 16 more on firm order and options for a further 25.

The Level D simulator is being built by FSI's Simulation Systems division, and will be equipped with a Vital ChromaView visual system, with MultiView wide-angle display, produced by the company's Visual Systems division. FSI is building a similar Regional Jet simulator for French regional Brit Air (Flight International, 10-16 January, P12).

With 100 Regional Jets in service and almost 140 more on firm order, the need for training is growing. Simulators are now available at the Bombardier training centre in Montreal and at Lufthansa CityLine's Berlin simulator centre. Each site has one CAE Electronics full-flight simulator, and additional machines are on order.
