FLIGHTSAFETY International is to establish an airline training centre in Kunming, south-west China, in a joint venture with Xingyun's Yunnan Tobacco Group. Kunming FlightSafety Aviation Training is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 1996, equipped with Boeing 737 and 757/767 flight simulators.
FlightSafety, which will make an initial investment of around $30 million as majority shareholder, says that the joint venture is awaiting final approval by China's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation. The centre will provide simulator training for Chinese airlines.
