FLYING COLOURS Leisure Group has placed a $200 million order for four new Boeing 757-200ERs for its new in-house carrier, Flying Colours Airlines. The four 757s, three leased from International Lease Finance and one from GATX, will be powered by Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4s.
Three aircraft will be based at Manchester Airport and one at London Gatwick, for a start of operations in time for the 1997 UK holiday season.
The chairman of the new airline is Erroll Cossey, formerly chairman of Air 2000, with Terry Soult ex-engineering director of Air 2000, becoming managing director.
Flying Colours Leisure Group is the new umbrella organisation for tour operators Sunset Holidays, Priority Holidays and Club 18-30. The group's inclusive-tour services and seat-only activities are contracted mainly to Luton-based Monarch Airlines.
