Indian airport developer GMR Infrastructure is planning to enter the air charter market through its subsidiary GMR Aviation in an attempt to exploit the booming demand for business aviation in India.
The Bangalore-based company will initially use the two Dassault Falcon business jets in its corporate flight department but plans to add a further four business jets as well as two helicopters helicopters at a later date.
GMR says it has already received an encouraging response to the venture which is pitched at both international and dometic markets.
Meanwhile, Embraer has clinched its first Indian customer for the Phenom 100 very light jet following the sale of two aircraft to consultancy firm Aviators India. Delivery is scheduled for next year.
