The Greek air force has taken delivery of its first of two modified Bombardier 415MPsearch and rescue amphibians from the Canadian manufacturer. Delivered on 31 March, the aircraft was modified for the mission by Bombardier and Sweden's Saab Nyge Aero.
Greece has already taken delivery of more than 20 Bombardier 215/415 amphibians to conduct firefighting duties. The modified 415MP can be used for additional roles, including maritime patrol and environmental monitoring and retains the ability to conduct fire-fighting tasks, says Bombardier. The aircraft is equipped with a forward-looking infrared sensor and a side-looking airborne radar for search duties.
