Greece is seeking permission from Brussels to take on responsibility for the lease payments on four Airbus A340s operated by Olympic Airlines. Greece has had a number of run-ins with Brussels over Olympic in the last few years, and the carrier is already under investigation for non-payment of taxes and illegal state aid. A previous ruling on state aid in 2002, rejected by Greece, has now been referred to the European Court of Justice.
