AlliedSignal's parts customers in Europe, Africa and the Middle East should be experiencing a considerably enhanced service, as the company's newly-opened distribution centre - near London's Heathrow airport - is now close to operating at full capacity.
Many customers, such as KLM in Amsterdam, are already benefiting from a 24-hour response time, while AlliedSignal's long-term plans mean that the centre will soon be capable of shipping more than 300 orders a day.
Says AlliedSignal Aerospace's Jim Robbins, vice-president commercial spares: "This centre will benefit our customers in the region by enabling them to receive parts faster which, in turn, will allow them to service their customers faster while reducing inventory and safety stocks. In the past, many of these orders were filled from Phoenix, Arizona, which required more time and expense."
