Lockheed Martin is to co-operate with Newark, New York-based Ultralife Batteries to develop batteries for defence and aerospace applications using Ultralife's lithium-ion solid-polymer technology. This is claimed to offer higher energy density, to weigh less and to give a longer cycle-life than does nickel-cadmium.
