Hong Kong Airlines will offer Panasonic Avionics' eX2 in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) system cabin-wide in each of its new Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The eX2-equipped aircraft are the first in Hong Kong Airlines' fleet to offer multi-language audio and video on demand (AVOD) services, including movies, television programs, CDs, and soundtracks to passengers, says Panasonic in a statement.
The first of six A330-200s equipped with the system will be placed into service in June. Initial international long-haul routes will be between Hong Kong and Moscow.
"Offering an enhanced entertainment experience on our international flights enables us to further differentiate our brand and create greater customer loyalty for our airline in Hong Kong's rapidly growing transportation industry," says Hong Kong Airlines president Yang Jian Hong.
Panasonic Avionics CEO Paul Margis says the manufacturer looks forward to working with the carrier "on new, innovative IFEC solutions that deliver a superior entertainment solution for their passengers".
