Administrators seem to be losing hope of selling off Hazelton Airlines and Kendell Airlines, the two regional carrier subsidiaries of collapsed Australian carrier Ansett. Virgin Blue has said itis not interested, and two other offers impose so many conditions that administrators Simms Lockwood doubt whether they are viable.
Creditors have agreed to extend the deed of company arrangement for a further 30 days to the end of May, buying more time to find new owners.
Two groups - Australiawide, comprising former Ansett staff, and Inland Marketing, a group of regional local governments - have submitted competing new proposals to buy bothairlines, and negotiations are continuing.
However, Simms Lockwood says: "Both parties expressing interest have self-imposed conditions precedent to their bids. Until the bidders remove these conditions, there is no possibility of progressing to contractual arrangements. Both parties have had significant time to finalise their positions and submit unconditional offers."
